ANGELES CITY'S HISTORICAL LANDMARKS AND HANGOUTS

May 1, 2017
MABUHAY!
This photo journal features some magnificent historical landmarks that are travel points of interest in Angeles City, Pampanga.

When I hear the name Angeles City, just 45 minutes away from the barrio where I grew up in Pampanga, the red light district where bar girls invite foreign customers in the street as early as 9am, Clark Airbase, and lots of casinos and the good time immediately spark within my childhood memory. I remember my grandfather and my uncles, who were plumbers at Clark Air Base, bringing along their American friends to their house for a weekend of a drinking spree.

In March 2013, when I together with my family finally moved to the "City of Angels", I began to fall in love with my newfound home. It also amazes me that in spite of its modern booming metropolis and westernized culture as influenced by the Americans, some historical landmarks were preserved to look back at the city's historical roots.

HOLY ROSARY CHURCH
An evident landmark in Sto. Rosario Street, the Holy Rosary church, or Sto. Rosario church was constructed from 1877 to 1896. It was said to be constructed by "forced labor" of Filipino peasants during the Spanish regime.
