Another great product that is very popular nowadays in the area of concrete surface correction is the SKIM COAT. It is an innovative thin plastering mortar formulated to achieve the optimal and consistent concrete surface smoothness on columns, beams or precast walls from 2 to 4mm deep. MORTAR BINDER, on the other hand, is used as a base coat plastering mortar where thicker conventional plastering is required.
ADVANTAGES OF SKIM COAT:
* Easy to apply, just add water.
* Sag-resistant
* Excellent adhesion, less wastage.
* High bonding strength. No more chipping on concrete surfaces.
* Long pot life and open time. Increases Productivity
* Nontoxic and hazardous.
* No need for acid treatment. Ready to receive paint.
* Ideal for all concrete finishes.
HOW TO USE CONCRETE MORTAR BINDER:
Surface Preparation
The substrate must be clean and free from dust, oil, paint or grease. The surface must be damp with water before application. Water accumulation on the surface must be avoided.
Mixing
Application of FIRST THIN COAT
Application of SECOND MUCH THICKER COAT

COMBING THE BASE COAT WITH NOTCHED TROWEL
Let it cure for 24 hours then proceed with normal concrete plastering to correct the concrete surface. As the name implies, the mortar binder serves as scratch grout for the concrete surface without the need for any chipping works.

Plant Visit
I was able to visit the skim coat and mortar binder manufacturing plant of RECE BUILDING SYSTEMS in Bacoor, Cavite and they showed us cool stuff around there:
