CONSTRUCTION OF AAP TOWER: RISING ABOVE CHALLENGES PART 1

August 1, 2014
MABUHAY!

Assigned with a new project, I was task to construct the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) 10 Storey-Tower, located at Brgy. Mariana, New Manila, Quezon City. The construction schedule is only 10-months. Various construction constraints such as very limited job site with no room for staging area or station for big equipment such as mobile crane or entry of concrete mixer trucks is first on the list. Our staging area for reinforcing bar and formworks fabrication is around 500 meters away from the job site. 2-low bed trucks is needed to deliver these items at the job site. Next is the limited time allowed by the local Barangay officials with only 12 hours per day allotted for construction. The scarcity of skilled workers due to high demand in the construction industry in the Philippines contributed also to our challenges.
But the determination to rise and succeed amidst these challenges is the story I want to share.
