MABUHAY!
This is a photo and video journal of our budget travel to the magnificent country of Singapore featuring our arrival to our first-day travel itinerary.
SINGAPORE- the LION city, is one of the cleanest and progressive countries in the world. No wonder many tourists flock here to savor the variety of flavor offered by diversified cultures of Chinese, Malay & Indian with influence also from Europe making Singapore a melting pot in South East Asia. This time, I traveled with my wife for her to experience my concept of traveling: blending in with the locals, eating local delicacies and riding public transportation. 1. CHECKING YOUR TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Make sure your passports, airline tickets, visa or travel permits, booking for hotel accommodation and the like are kept securely in one travel or body bag because you're going to present them from time to time whenever the airport authorities ask for them. In the case of Philippine passport, we are only permitted to travel 6 months prior to its expiration.
2. SPOTTING THE BEST FLIGHT DEAL
I was able to get promo airline tickets for 2 at JETSTAR airline's amounting only to 333.33 S$.
3. BOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION
For cheap accommodation that caters to backpackers, I recommend you to check airbnb.com or hostelworld.com.
4. MAKING A TRAVEL ITINERARY
Planning ahead where you want to go in your place of destination will definitely save you and make the most out of your limited time. Check your travel route at GOOGLE MAP OR ROME2RIO.
5. LOOKING FOR FOREX DEALERS
By doing a little bit of research, I was able to locate a local Money changer shop in Cubao, Quezon City that has ample stock of Singaporean dollars. The exchange rate is 37.50 Philippine Peso to 1 (one) Singaporean dollar.
6. PREPARING A PACKING LIST
Trying to remember all the things that you need when traveling but keeping in mind the limited weight allotted for backpack or hand carry bags by the airline companies is a big challenge. The Ultimate Packing List by SMART TRAVEL is a big help.
7. WEB CHECK-IN
To avoid waiting in the long queue when you check in before getting a boarding pass. This will serve you conveniently because airline companies now place a booth for passengers who did web check-in 48 hours before your flight.
