Nature Tripping at Cebu Safari And Adventure Park Part-4

January 16, 2019
Mabuhay!
This is the fourth and last part of the 4-part series of this photo and video journal of my nature-tripping travel at Carmen, Cebu featuring my visit to Cebu Safari & Adventure Park, a close encounter with magnificent wild animals.
Bird Show
Another exciting event that is attracting a huge crowd of visitors is the bird show. This is a very entertaining show featuring birds of different species performing tricks with a volunteer audience.
The crowd spectators start to gather as the show is about to start.

A volunteer from the audience is being briefed by the emcee about his participation in the bird trick performance.

This Toco Toucan is about to perform a trick.

The birds, which are the star of the show are introduced by the emcee.

After the show, you can take a souvenir picture with the cast of the show, especially with their star, the birds.

Visitors line up for their turn for a souvenir picture of the stars of the show, the birds.

Ring-tailed Lemur
Lemur Catta

The signboard reads:
Hi there! I am a lemur, a type of primate known as prosimians, primates that are at the highest risk of extinction.
We are nocturnal creatures and my name, Lemur, is Latin for "spirit of the night". I originate from Madagascar and usually live in dry scrub, deciduous forests, montane humid forests, and gallery forests. I am an omnivore and I eat fruits, vegetables, and insects.
There are many different species of lemurs like the Alaotran Gentle Lemur, Aye-Aye lemur, the Indri lemur, the black & white ruffed lemur, and the red ruffed lemur. I am a ring-tailed lemur.
Our tails are often longer than our bodies, and we also have pseudo-opposing thumbs and long toes. We use this to hold onto things and climb. I am a very social creature, and grooming and socializing are a huge part of the family life for lemurs.

One of the most familiar characters featured in the Dreamworks animated film, Madagascar is King Julien, the ring-tailed lemur.

Southern Cassowary
Casuarius Casuarius
The signboard reads:
I am what you call a Cassowary and I look like an odd combination of an ostrich and a turkey. We are the Earth's second-heaviest bird and the color of our head and neck depending on our mood.

The shy cassowary hiding behind the leaves.

Tiger
Panthera Tigris
The signboard reads:
We are the biggest species of the cat family and we originate from Euroasia. We usually live in grasslands, tropical rain forests and scrub forests.

A male tiger is called a tiger while a female tiger is called a tigress. An offspring is called a cub, meanwhile, a group of tigers is called an ambush or a streak.

We are the 3rd largest land carnivore (meat-eating) and we hunt at night. We have excellent eyesight for catching prey, making it easier to sneak up on our prey from behind in the dark.

We are agile creatures and can run up to 40 miles per hour and jump 16 feet high. We also like water, unlike any other cats in the cat family, and like to live by the water. We can swim up to 4 miles.

The rarest tiger is the white tiger. While tigers are born with a gene that causes them to be white and there are only 1 out of 10,000 tigers that are born as white tigers.

Just looking at this huge poster of the tiger, you can already sense how fierce they are.

We patiently waited for the tiger to come out of his cave to gaze upon his beauty but our expectation was not met.

Danao City
On our way back to Cebu City, we passed by the historic city of Danao. Danao is famous for locally made guns that are sold on the black market.

The attached bell tower - locally called the "kampanaryo."

St. Thomas de Villanueva Parish - a Roman Catholic church building.

These dates were mostly the start & completion of the construction of this parish church.

I would like to thank Arch. Rowell Angeles for accompanying me in this magnificent park.
