Mabuhay!

This is a photo and video journal of  Day 1 of the family road trip and outdoor adventure in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. Baler, the capital of Aurora province, is nestled between the Sierra Madre mountain range and the Pacific Ocean. Specifically, it sits at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountain range, with a view of the Pacific Ocean.
Getting There
Baler is a 4-hour car ride from our hometown in Angeles City.

Our stop-over
We stop by the roadside eatery serving home-cooked meals and other native delicacies and drinks.

Entering Aurora Province

Maria Aurora, officially the Municipality of Maria Aurora, is the only landlocked municipality in the province of Aurora, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 44,958 people.

Despite being the only landlocked town in the province, it is the most populated municipality of Aurora. The Millennium Tree in Balete Park and the lush green landscape are Maria Aurora's main tourist attractions.

The town was named after Maria Aurora "Baby" Aragon Quezon, the first daughter of Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon and First Lady Aurora Aragon Quezon. Maria Aurora, along with her mother Aurora, was ambushed and killed by members of the Hukbalahap movement in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.
