OUR VENUE
Inside Fort Santiago in Intramuros Manila, are the Almacenes Reales or Royal Warehouses built in 1591. At that time, Spain is slowly starting to show their strong presence here in Manila resulting in more than 300 years of Spanish occupation in the Philippines.

Our venue from the outside
the arched beam of the warehouse
I was really amazed when I saw the arched adobe stone beams still in good condition. I challenge Jonas, the Swiss lecturer, that these beams have anchorage on top. For us to be enlightened on how these stone beams were held together, Jonas launched on the air a drone to check if there is a steel bar connecting the arched stones on top. He couldn't find any.
This is a classic example of a "KEYSTONE" principle in an arch and vault construction. At the center of this arch is a wedge-shaped keystone the holds the left and right beam in place. This construction technique enhanced by the Romans was already used by Egyptians.
This photo shows the detail of connections of the stone on the right side
The plaster on the brick wall already deteriorated.
Some wooden doors are still intact from the previous occupant of this warehouse
This wooden king post part of railing for this ramp is still standing
This head is part of an artwork below.
Fragments of a broken human clay statue
This is a very interesting signboard

A MOBILE CLINIC - OUR PROJECT PRESENTATION
Our proposed project is a compact mobile clinic that will go around remote villages to give basic health services. We chose an old bus, painted it with rainbow colors so as to attract the rural people, especially children which is our priority beneficiaries.
