July 10, 2018
MABUHAY!

This is a photo and video journal of our budget travel to the incredible country of India featuring our visit to the countryside of Palakkad, Kerala.
ARRIVAL AT PALAKKAD JUNCTION TRAIN STATION
Our train departed at Chennai Central Train Station at 7pm. The estimated travel time going to Palakkad Junction is 9 hours so the estimated time of arrival is 4am the following day.
Our train ride route map
Our train already traveled a couple of hours now making a quick stop on each station around 5-10 minutes only. I looked at the time in my cell phone and it is already 3:30am. I  awaken my wife and told her to get ready for I sense that Palakkad station is already near. Most of the passengers are sleeping. The train lights are off and we used only our cellphone flashlight. Then the train is slowing down to a make a stop. I told my wife to check what station it is. Then she shouted "Palakkad!" We grabbed our backpacks and get off the train.

Pastor Boaz is my wife's FB friend for years now. When my wife told him that we are planning to visit India, he told us that he'll be glad to meet us. He was waiting at the train station when we arrived. Then he also arranged a tuk-tuk ride going to their house.
Upon arrival, we were served with a hot cup of tea.

Pastor Boaz welcomed us in his house.

GOING TO PALAKKAD COUNTRYSIDE
July is a rainy season in India. Unlike the hot weather in Chennai, it's a little bit cooler in Kerala. We tried to go out for a motorcycle joy ride in the Palakkad district to visit some farms. But frequently we are forced to stop and take shelter due to the sudden pouring of rain.

Most of the village folks around here are working as expatriates in the Middle East. You can see a lot of nice houses.

FELLOWSHIP NIGHT
After dinner, we gathered around the living room for a Christian fellowship night. Pastor Boaz and his family sang Christian praise songs in Tamil then my wife and I sang in Filipino and English. I gave some words of encouragement to Pastor Boaz for him to continue the ministry God has entrusted. Pastor Boaz strong faith in God together with his family amidst the challenges of working full time in the ministry really uplifted our soul.
