Walking Tour on the American Legacy in Clark Freeport Zone

July 19, 2024
Mabuhay!
This is a photo and video journal of our afternoon leisurely walk with our friends in Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone.
Getting There
The Clark Freeport Zone (CFZ) and the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) are located in the Pampanga and Tarlac provinces in the Philippines. The CFEZ is a hub for business, tourism, and aviation and is considered one of the fastest-growing investment destinations in the country.

From the Ninoy International Airport, you can take a Genesis Point-to-Point (P2P) bus to Clark International Airport.

In Cubao Terminal, many buses go north of Luzon, e.g., to Pampanga, Pangasinan, Ilocos, Tuguegarao, etc. Most of these buses stop at the Dau, Mabalacat City Bus Terminal. From Mabalacat, there are many transport options to Clark, such as taxis, jeepneys, vans, or tricycles.
The approximate bus travel time from Manila to Clark, Pampanga is around 2 hours.

A Leisurely Walk in CDC Parade Grounds
The open field with grass lawns in Clark Development Corp. (CDC) is perfect for leisure walks. There is also an oval jogging path.

Clark Museum
Clark Museum, located at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, showcases various important artifacts, military memorabilia, and local products that depict Clark's history from 1901 until its present progression into an economic and Freeport Zone. The 4D theater beside it is also a must-see.

Former US Army Officers Housing
The old US officers' housing in Clark, Pampanga, is commonly referred to as "Barn Houses. " These large wooden structures were built between 1903 and 1904 by the US military to serve as residences for officers stationed at the base. They feature a distinctive tropical architectural style with raised floors and wide verandas for cool air circulation. These houses are a prime example of early American tropical architecture in the Philippines.

Clark International Airport
The architectural design concept of Clark International Airport was inspired by the natural landscape of Pampanga. The roof resembles Mount Arayat which was shown in the background. The CIA has received many international architectural awards.
